Why dance bars got banned in Mumbai?

In many films we have seen Dance Bars in Mumbai. A place to drink and enjoy dance of bar girls. But it has also been a place to show dominance. Like a man throwing more money at the bar girls than the other guy to show his worth. Dance Bar Girls may also have been involved in prostitution. But why dance bars we closed in Mumbai? What was the turning point?
